An open house brought more than 100 people to the transportation department at Queen Creek (Ariz.) Unified School District on July 18. Attendees toured the facility, checked out new buses, and learned about safety.

All-Star Transportation recently donated this new propane-powered school bus to the Waterbury (Conn.) Police Athletic League. The nonprofit will use the bus to shuttle kids to educational, athletic, and recreational programs.

Bobit Business Media has been publishing School Bus Fleet for more than 50 years. Now, the next generation of the Bobit family is experiencing the yellow bus. Alice, daughter of Blake Bobit and granddaughter of Ty Bobit, took a rainy day ride for a field trip earlier this year.

As the new school year approached, Kentucky drivers began seeing roadside reminders to stop for school buses. The Kentucky Department of Education’s safety message appeared on 51 billboards across the state.

DATTCO school bus driver Randy Kronick (center) was honored in February for keeping a 9-year-old girl from crossing the street when he saw a speeding SUV that failed to stop for the bus. Kronick credited his actions to DATTCO safety procedures that include maintaining eye contact and giving students a cue when it is safe to cross.

San Antonio Independent School District (ISD) held an engaging training event for its school bus drivers and other staff on June 5. More than 300 employees rotated through 10 stations, including CPR and first aid training.

School bus seating compartmentalization is often likened to an egg carton. This thank-you note, from a 4-year-old student to a driver at Dansville (N.Y.) Central School District, puts a new spin on the egg carton analogy.

Is laughing out loud (LOL) allowed on this bus? The route ID seems to suggest that it is. Louk Markham, a former school transportation director in California, submitted the pic of this chuckle-worthy “sign of the times,” as he put it.
