Training on responding to active threats on the bus was the focus of the recent event put on by Oregon Pupil Transportation Association.

The Oregon Pupil Transportation Association South Willamette chapter held its annual Winter Workshop in Eugene, Oregon, on Feb. 23.

Chris Ellison, director of transportation at Eugene School District 4J (shown right), and local law enforcement officers discussed how to respond in various threat situations.

School bus safety expert Dr. Nancy Blackwelder reviewed training topics that are essential for bus drivers and aides. She also took a humorous look at situations that are unique to working in the transportation field.
