At events held in multiple states, students, schools, and contractors gathered to show their appreciation for the yellow bus and its drivers.

Glendale (Ariz.) Elementary School District #40 hosted its third annual "Love the Bus – No Bullies On Board" event on Feb. 14. Students made valentine cards for their school bus drivers and monitors with help from Arizona Coyotes professional hockey team mascot “Howler.”

In Alabama, school bus dealership Transportation South hosted its eighth annual Love the Bus celebration on Feb. 14.

Superintendent Dr. Tim Markley of New Hanover (N.C.) County Schools rode the bus to school.

Here's another bus that was creatively designed by Greenville County students.

In Minnesota, Gov. Mark Dayton proclaimed Feb. 22 the state's first-ever School Bus Driver Appreciation Day.

Shown here are some of the valentine cards students made to show appreciation for their drivers and monitors.

The district superintendent gave each employee a gift of appreciation.

Sue Takacs, a veteran Morgan County Schools bus driver, was named the 2017 Alabama Love the Bus Driver of the Year. State director Chad Carpenter congratulates her on the achievement. 

Also in attendance were 22 students from Pelham Ridge Elementary School, who showed their appreciation by drawing pictures and decorating a school bus.    

In North Carolina, HSM Transportation Solutions sponsored a breakfast and gave drivers T-shirts in celebration of Love the Bus. The T-shirts feature the "Stop for a Life" logo designed by Laura Hardy Creative of Pilot Mountain, North Carolina. Shown here in the middle of the group of drivers is Derek Graham, who just retired as state director.

In South Carolina, high school students at Greenville County Schools showed their appreciation for bus drivers by temporarily painting activity buses.
