The Public and Catholic School Boards of Alberta and Stock Transportation put on a First Riders event on Sept. 1 for students.

This long lineup of yellow buses is at R.M. Marrs Magnet Center, a middle school in Omaha, Nebraska. The buses are operated by Student Transportation of America’s Omaha location, which transports more than 50,000 students. Photo by Marc Austin.

First Student teamed up with the National Safety Council for the Safety Dog Bus Tour in late August, which informed kids and their parents about school bus safety.

Students were able to meet and have their photo taken with Safety Dog, the safety mascot for First Student.

Children taking part in the tour learned safety tips, signed safety pledges and “Walked the Yellow Carpet.”

The event was held to teach students riding the school bus for the first time about bus safety.

Students at the First Riders event also got the chance to ride the bus before school started.
