The California Association of School Transportation Officials presents sessions on student safety on the bus as it celebrates 50 years.

Dr. Cal LeMon, a management consultant who has worked with clients in pupil transportation for over 20 years, received a standing ovation before giving the keynote speech on Saturday.

Also on display were alternative-fuel vehicles, including IC Bus’s new concept electric school bus, the ChargE.

During breaks, CASTO attendees were able to relax outside the convention center and enjoy beautiful sites such as this fountain decorated with a flower and succulent garden, at the Town and Country Resort and Conference Center.

The California Association of School Transportation Officials held its annual conference from March 24-26 in San Diego.

Chris Ellison, the transportation manager at Eugene (Ore.) School District 4J, discussed types of bullying and how to prevent and de-escalate them.

The trade show floor featured offerings from several suppliers, including Fogmaker, Q'Straint, Safe Fleet, Transfinder, and Zonar.

Attendees also got to check out Blue Bird's Propane Vision school bus.
