‘Busing’ Up the Office

For some transportation departments and companies, school buses aren’t just a way to get students to and from school safely — they’re also a choice of office décor. Here, we present some spectacular yellow bus murals and other interesting artwork that grace the walls of operations across the nation.

At the School District of Manatee County (Fla.), one of the technicians air-sprayed this picture and slogan on a hallway wall in the vehicle maintenance department.

Village Christian’s transportation office décor includes red lights and a stop arm that light up.

Paige Weisenburger, daughter of Director of Transportation Howard Weisenburger, painted this mural on the wall of the driver lounge at American Falls (Idaho) School District #381.

At Shelby County (Tenn.) Schools, a driver had a puzzle — showing a school bus in an autumn landscape — made for Director of Transportation Debbie Rike. The puzzle is framed and hangs on the wall in Rike’s office.

At Village Christian Schools in Sun Valley, Calif., the transportation department painted its office to look like a familiar yellow vehicle.

As any school bus should, the painting identifies the operation and includes a bus number.

Diane Alley spent about 60 hours painting this mural at a Petermann terminal in Middletown, Ohio, completing it in December 2010. For more details on Alley’s work, go here.
