This photo from Joyce Wilcox of Salamanca (N.Y.) City Central School District was selected as a winning entry. "A few days before I took the photo, I noticed how nice it looked ... all the buses lined up and the signs flashing," Wilcox says. "So I brought my Canon to work and took the photo while we were all sitting at the high school (buses off but red lights on) waiting to finish loading our students. I think my favorite part of the picture is how it shows my co-workers all doing it right ... the guys in our garage work hard at making sure the buses are safe, clean and rust free, and each of the drivers are using their reds while loading students. It's a scene I love seeing 180 days each year."

James Kraemer of Lebanon (Ore.) Community Schools submitted the second winning photo. "The photo is taken in a beautiful rural area of a school bus crossing over the South Santiam River on a single lane stringer bridge toward McDowell Creek Park in Oregon," Kraemer says. "The area is located east of Lebanon/Waterloo cities area off the South Santiam Highway. The McDowell Creek area was named after Jack McDowell, an early settler in the area."

John Arneson from Chandler (Ariz.) School District received honorable mention for this photo.

This shot from Tammy Coates from a Head Start in Lynchburg, Va., was also selected as an honorable mention.

Cindy Hanson of Highline Public Schools in Burien, Wash., earned honorable mention for this shot.

This photo earned honorable mention for Ashley Reynolds of Mid States School Bus Inc. in Wayne, Neb.
