Can I use regular Nibco brass ball valves for fuel line shut offs or do I need special valves rated for diesel?

Brass is OK. Copper should be avoided due to a chemical reaction with the fuel, though it's minimal.
If it doesn't fit, FORCE it.
If it breaks, well, it needed replacing anyway.
