9/12/2006 - EmeraldCoast.com, FL - Bay County Sheriff’s investigators have arrested three people in connection with the case of the five-year-old child left inside a school bus on Sept. 1.

Kenneth Earl Weaver, 47, of Calloway, was arrested Monday. Weaver was the bus driver during the incident and did not check the bus when he left for the day. The other two individuals, and their connection to the case, have not been identified as of yet.

The child, Keaire Kamau, was locked inside the bus at the Child Care Network in Calloway. His mother became distressed when Kamau did not return, and she went searching for the child. When his mother and the deputies found Kamau, he was dressed only in his underwear and a shirt, and the temperature inside the bus registered a sweltering 135 degrees.

Weaver currently faces child neglect charges with more pending as the investigation continues.

It is probably a van used as a bus. Extremely dangerous not to have someone besides the bus driver and monitor check the vans and cars BEFORE they are parked. So incredibly dangerous and so grossly neglectful can't find a valid excuse not to make sure these types of vehicles used as buses are redundantly inspected before they are parked. (jk)
