I haven't done but a handful of automatic slack adjusters. I had to replace the air can and that meant removing the clevis . Well I removed thses things that looked like safety pin . When I reassembled everything I used cotter pins instead of reusing what I removed . Is this okay ? Any reason not to use cotter pins or should I have tried to reuse what I took off ? Thanks

Cotter pins are fine. The style pins you removed are likely used by the OEM because they are more assembly line friendly.

Why yes, the ORIGinal CHARGER is a Fastback
