We just received the 2002 International IC (Integrated Chassis) 48- Passenger school bus we ordered for this year. Many nice features..but we have had an ongoing difficulty with the manual door mechanism, which is the same mechanism that was introduced when the AMTRAN/International marriage took place two years ago. (We have taken the stance not to purchase power-doors). This (supposedly) ergonomic door opener uses a push-pull motion, rather than a pivoting handle to operate the front door. The strength required to operate it, however, would have our women drivers looking like the woman in the Brawny commercial(..ok, Brawny..do your stuff..!). Our head mechanic has made an adaptation that has helped considerably, however, and that is to drill another hole in the cross-brace that is attached to the door. It brings the foot-pounds(?)needed to open and close it, to the amount needed for a regular pivoting door opener. LM
