The buy and sell section doesn't get as much traffic (at least knowledgeable traffic), so forgive me for posting here.

I am in need of Carpenter Elk Brown seat covers. That's the brown that looked like leather, not the basketball or clay or that god-aweful orange!

Besi has discontinued the vinyl and every place I've asked has long-ago run out of the 39" stuff. Anybody have any on the shelf or in a bus that is going to the scrapper that they can sell off?

I'll ask around in my part of the woods. I have some whole seats but am planning to use them for a project.

Hey now....Carpenter Persimmon was the coolest color for interior seating! I always liked that orange with our tan interiors. Did you try Mike N B's for your Elk Brown covers?

Thanks Bwest! As for Mike & B, no new stock available...there might be some use back in the lot, but I haven't had time to make the drive to find out.

I just traded in my last Carpenter, a 1993, and it had brown seats. Let me see if there are any spare covers.

I should specify, I need DOT highbacks, not NY highbacks. I'm thinking the 93 would have the wrong coloration anyways.

I might have the "basketball" colored covers in DOT highback, not the darker brown...they are NY highback. Sorry.
Carp_26, as for persimmon, I swear those things even had an ugly smell! As a student rider and later as a driver, those things made me sick to my stomach!

I hated persimmon...oddly enough TAC has PLENTY of those forsaken things available for sale.

Sherm, let me know if you have those basketball (antelope brown)...they may just have to do. Any DOT foam left? Make the school a few buck on em rather than trashing em!

If you can post a part number Besi or carpenter I can check our stock. I know we have some green ones and maybe some foams. I'll have to look for the brown if we have any in stock.

Isn't that the truth. I don't know what it was about them but they really stank! lol

The only thing I can find that might be a Besi # is CBHELK for the back and CCELK for the cushions. Besi stopped production several years ago, so I don't have any catalogs showing what the number would have been.

Triad foam is 39C is memory serves. That is still readily available.

Try Heavy Duty Bus Parts. 1-800-505-2300 Ask for Molly. If They don't have them they I bet they know where to get them.

Will do. The thing was the former owner's mechanic's baby. Aside from the paint, floor covering and a few seats, the thing is in amazing condition, especially for 228,000 miles in NE Ohio. GMC with an 8.2 NA, used to be a manual, now has an AT545, air brakes.

This is a "spare time" project, but I am trying to get all my materials lined up so they are ready when I am!

We have 3x athol? hpc79. And 12x besi 25039-098 canyon. I don't think it's the right color, maybe. Boss (Ralph) says give him a call 812-874-2216.

Thanks for checking, that isn't the ones I'm after. Nobody I've called has the material left to make em either. Oh well...to the junkyard I go!

Only need 6 backs. Managed to find a 26" back and cushion on a shelf at one vendor.

Okay, got the seat covers thanks to forum member Matthew Hastings!

NOW... I need warning light visors. But, not just plain round ones. I need the ones for Cats-Eye warning lights. There were squarish in shape (see photo).

These have been out of production for several years, I'd love to have new, but will gladly take used. Let me know if you have any and lets make a deal!

I MIGHT have some used ones out in the shed. I will try to remember to look next week. Do you need Just the amber, or do you need the red as well?

We still have some older parts from the Carpenter Dealer in Mitchell, IN. Call Richard Strange at 800-933-2412, ext. 1279 for a list.

This is why it's great to have some of the dealers on the forum (even though we go through our differences)... a surprise like long forgotten Carpenter parts!

Can't wait to see the bus restored.
