School bus fees may cause ‘sticker shock'
Transportation to specialty programs currently costs $1,900 per student

Parents with children in Prince George's County's 21 specialty schools — facilities that offer specialized courses — may have to pay up to $1,900 for bus transportation next school year, education officials told parents at Robert Goddard Montessori and French Immersion schools.
At a meeting March 17 to discuss proposed education cuts in the fiscal 2012 school budget, Chief of Supporting Services Michael A. Dodson cautioned that the exact payment amount still has not been determined and that the $1,900 figure represents how much it costs now to transport each child to specialty schools, such as Goddard.
"It'll be a sticker shock, no matter what it is," Dodson said of the fee for parents. ...
