Bus Driver Cleared in Lewd Photo Case
Mar 23, 2011 WGRZ TV NEWS
NORTH TONAWANDA, NY- Case closed! That is the word from North Tonawanda Police after a school bus driver was accused of showing inappropriate cell phone pictures to students on the bus.
The allegations came from three middle school students. They claimed that it happened several times over a course of two weeks.
The driver, a five-year employee with an impeccable record at First Student Transportation, was suspended as the investigation was carried out.
Police confiscated the cell phone and it's memory card and sent it to the forensics lab. They found no evidence of inappropriate pictures or evidence that anything had been deleted. North Tonawanda Police Chief Randy Szukala also tells 2 On Your Side that upon interview, none of the stories matched from the kids making the accusations.
Both police and school district officials confirm that some of the students involved were suspended from the bus for bad behavior the week before making the accusations.
This week the case was closed, the driver will be reinstated with back-pay, but he will not be driving in North Tonawanda. School Superintendent Greg Woytila says he has requested that the bus company, First Student, transfer the driver to another school district to avoid further issues.

I call BS! The kids making the false accusations should be transferred to another district, not the driver! WTF? There is NO WAY I would settle for transferring, because the driver didn't do anything wrong! I'd like to hear a follow up in 3 years on how these 3 students are behaving on the bus then. I agree with School Bus M8, going after the district and the students. |

I agree. The Superintendent (Woytila) said he requested that the bus company transfer the driver to another school district to avoid further issues.
And nothing concerning the kids that lied? They got rid of their bus driver, a victory for lying. If this issue reaches litigation it may be considered public information and we’ll read more about what the liars said, did, and perhaps the consequences they received, if any.
Kids and some parents do not realize that they can be held accountable for lying about their bus driver which can trigger litigation if that driver or the employer decide to recover damages.
Incredible that the bus drivers have said nothing in protest to the board or to the press. Maybe these think they are working for a private trucking company.
Still think there is a school bus driver shortage? Myself think there is a shortage of quality employers destroying the reputations of the great employers. (jk)
