It's a machine you use and hook up to different spots on different engines.

The cummins hooks into the egr crossover tube. It's a preventive tool and may not unstick what you have, but will help keep it from happening in the future.

Thomasbus,

I've been using it for about a year now.

Thanks for the info. Stuff like this always worries me, like it's going to damage the expensive emissions stuff. I need to get over that.

Most VGT problems we have encountered has been been defective VGT actuator have had a few wring issues also. last 1 8" of harness was bad coming from ecm on 12v wire. Make sure you follow procedure to put VGT actuator back in if you take apart

Take it apart.

One reason why actuators fail is because of stuck trubo vanes. The ECM tell the actuator it needs 100% but the vanes move less than that, so the ECM hammers more voltage to the actuator until one day it over heats.

I'm using a similar tool made by terraclean, there are many different copy's of the same tool on the market all that are made by the same company. I have been doing the EGR cleaning now for five years as a annual maintenance, my turbo/EGR issues are now non existent. I believe most people should be able to purchase the Motor Vac branded tool and chemical at a local parts store.

The adapter i use is a single hose that goes into the EGR crossover tube in the temperature sensor port.
