We had a pretty bad one yesterday about 100 miles away. Luckily it came with a pretty good ending. Semi into the back of a stopped bus, all caught on camera...
We have a horrendously in-depth pickup and dropoff procedure here and drivers are retested on it regularly. If done to the book, there isn't much that can get by you, and the kids are trained to look out for what we may miss too.
I've had guys from other states say how dumb it is, but the bottom line is that we aren't killing kids at stops anymore.
Staying alert and keeping the kids alert saves lives.
