Feb. 3, 2006 - ASSOCIATED PRESS - NEW YORK — A school bus driver of 15 years from New Jersey has been accused of creating a hierarchy among his middle school charges that encouraged older students to bully younger ones to keep order. The driver, Michael Cianci, of Parlin, N.J., was arraigned Thursday on two counts of endangering the welfare of a child and released on $500 bail. The Department of Education said Cianci was suspended without pay.

"Smith said there was no explanation as to why the students did not report the bullying system sooner."

I see red flags all over this story - not necessarily pointing to the bus driver. Very interested in hearing more from the bus driver's side of this issue. (jk)

Maybe they didn't want to get beat up? Fear & intimidation works.

Not buying into that, least not until hearing more from the driver's side. (jk)
