Does anyone happen to know how school buses are designed? What kind of software is used to design school buses? I'm in an engineering class at school and we are learning to use AutoCad, an engineering program.

I would assume the advanced automotive corporations such as Freightliner(Thomas), International(IC) are probably using PRO E or Alias Wavefront ( an automotive design program used to conceptualize ergonomics and design ) |

I thought IC-Corp just used the leftover Carpenter blue prints to design their buses. |
If you have an International, you NEED customer service. |

I hoping I can create a design and use AutoCad to create 3D, full color models, etc. |

I couldn't tell you for sure, but as Jared suggested, Pro/ENGINEER may be one of the CAD programs used. I have and use Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire myself. Despite its occasional screw-ups, I like it overall. |

its more design/conceptual based, not so technical. www.aliaswavefront.com
Jared, I'm guessing this program isn't free, but do you know how much it costs? Do you have any prices for the others?(Autocad, etc.) I'm thinking about trying out one of these programs soon.

Pro/ENGINEER: http://www.proestudent.com/default.asp?action=selectLocation
It costs a lot more, however, for non-students. |
