We thought you might be interested in this story on a new round of funding from the EPA to reduce emissions from older diesel vehicles, including school buses. http://www.schoolbusfleet.com/news/722065/epa-s-clean-diesel-program-back-with-11m-in-funding

I read this last week. If you don't live in a city, that suffers from poor air quality, you will basically not be eligible. I completely understand what they are trying to do. My solution to poor air quality is to move to a rural area. lol

Have you ever applied?

We won an $80,000 grant 2 years ago. We are not a big city with air quality issues. Jump in to one of the webinars, May 2nd and May 9th.
Don't worry, poor air quality is coming your way.

OK, may look into that. Thanks for the info! Not sure about air quality. Pretty wide open out here. there's less than 20k people in our county.

We got preheaters for our entire fleet under the idle reduction program.
Warm buses at start up, and no longer have the high electric bills from plugging them in.
There is some extra work involved with programming etc.
We were told that a lot of districts feel as you do, no chance, but many of the larger metro districts have already used the program in years past.
I really like the preheaters, so do the drivers. If it is really cold, say below zero, I will still plug them in as a bit of insurance.

We're hog country to be exact. I'd hate to say! 7,200 head in two buildings just a couple miles north of my house. lol
