I have a 2007 Caterpillar that during a cold start the engine will miss and carry on like it has lost its fuel prime. I have repalced the timing sensors, HEUI pump, fuel psi regulator valve, even checked for air in fuel and it can sit overnight and no air shows up in the fuel system but it still runs as if it is full of air. Unit is not gaining oil or anything like that. I have no check engine light either. Anyone else experience this?

Sounds like injectors to me. Had one at the end of last school year doing that and also very had to start.

I second the injectors. Has the unit lost a HUEI pump, or was it replaced just to be replaced?

I have a set of freshly rebuilt injectors from a '04 Cat C-7 that I took out before I scrapped the engine. Turns out they were not the issue. I'm sure my school would sell them cheaply.

If Josh doesn't want them let me know. I might be interested.
Thanks

I am also leaning toward injectors. If you could tell me a price I will mention it to my boss and let you know.

Use extreme caution here...sometimes when the HPOP goes it feeds the injector oil circuit metal shavings. If you don't flush it out you'll just destroy $2000 worth of new/reman injectors!

I'll ask the schools business manager what we want for these. Turns out this Cat had broken rings. Live and learn!

We paid $540.00 to have the injectors rebuilt. The engine ran for 5 minuets before I pulled my head out of.... you know where.. and realized it was a compression issue. I was wrong when I said it was an '04. These came out of an '03 3126 Cat. Don't know if it makes any difference. Anyway the school would take $250.00 for'em.

Yep, #5. Had a rusted out but good running sister bus with a Cummins and did a transplant this summer.

busrench, I'm not sure if those would be the same as what is needed in my C7 ACERT I better do some research. Thanks for the input everyone.

This might be a discussion for another thread but I'm wondering if this is an issue with the design of the block. It seems to be #5 all the time.
