This bus has Allison 3000 Trans that takes longer than usual to upshift, and has a vibration at higher rpms right before it finally shifts to the next gear...It has a brand new differential, and the drive shaft is centered from yoke to yoke, and has all its balancing weights on it. The Trans has no codes displayed and the fluid level is at the proper level, any experiences or suggestions?
what engine do you have in that rig? ive seen the same symptoms on buses powered by international engines with weak fuel injectors. the bus would seem to drive fine but as soon as you pull the slightest incline it would hesitate and shudder just before it shifts.
Im using Allison Suite on the snap on pro link ultra to run diagnostics on this trans, it doesnt allow me to look at a trans health report like Allison DOC but I ran the shift command test and all gears passed. It does happen on every upshift while driving and it lacks in power on the lower end. And it has 73k on trans.
No the the pinion and ring gears had a lot of play and it would clatter during acceleration and between shifts before but no low power and no shifting problems.
Update: decided to take it for a test drive and it would not go past 25mph and it smelled of burning clutch plates...so I drove it back to shop and turned it off, went to move it 5 minutes later and now it wont crank. Still no DTC's
