I have a 2008 IC bus with a VT365, it's blowing white smoke at idle and black smoke while driving. I have 4 injectors that are'nt firing, and a loud knock in the engine. My question is, will it smoke that much with 4 injectors out and have a loud knock? I just replaced injectors on a VT365 that had 2 injectors out and it didn't smoke or knock like this one does with 4 injectors out. I've never come across this kind of knock on a VT365. I hope someone can chime in. Thanks.

It's probably fuel knock one of those injectors is probably just dumping fuel in and not really firing.

Sounds logical. I'm replacing all injectors if budget allows and keep y'all posted. Thanks.

I agree with tb4020. when you pull the injectors you may find a loose injector hold down. if so be sure to check/get the all pieces of the copper gasket out of the injector cup.

Ditto on the fuel knock. But white smoke at idle on VT can be EGR cooler too.

That was my first thought, but it's not using any coolant. I'll be tearing it down today and keep y'all posted.

Update: replacing all injectors fixed the smoking and knocking issues. I've never had 4 injectors go out all at once, usually 1 or 2. Thanks for all who chimed in on this.

If you have a bad injector pintle letting compresion back into the fuel system it most certainly will wipe out all the injectors on that bank. Ive seen it several times.

@mastertech thanks for the useful info, this is a first for me. Now I understand how so many can go out at once.
