Question for you guys like myself in snowbound areas. Anybody out there use a wind deflector on the roof at the back of bus above the load lights to keep them from plugging up with snow? We always have that issue every time it snows. Just wondering if they work well?

The Thomas C-2 is notorious for plastering snow all over the back of the bus, 8 ways, tail lights, and windows. We installed a See II wing on the back of one to see if it realy worked, the results were surprising the whole back of the bus stayed clear and in the summer the dirt road dust was at a minimum. We have since installed on all of our C-2's.

Where is this See II wing available? Is it only good on Thomas' or will it work on B'birds as well?

Here is a picture in this thread of what I think your talking about. Didn't Shane Curly talk about these a few years back? I don't see him on here much anymore.

The brochure at this link shows the difference one of those air foils can make. I am the one who took those pictures...somehow they ended up in someone's brochure. Anyway, the See II is a great safety device. My own district did not have them (the snow on the back of that snowy bus did not take long to build up) and I even got stuck once because I pulled over to clear off my lights.

We have them on our buses, I just hope they keep them in the specs in the next purchase.

If you have an International, you NEED customer service.

In 1993 we ordered a Bluebird. I had them install an rear air deflector. Bluebird at Mt. P installed another rear bulkhead. It looked similar to the See II but was full width with the center cluster lights mounted to it.

I thought it worked great. Driving a lot of rock roads it came in handy, I washed the backend of that bus every 3 days versus everyday on all the rest.

They are limb catchers whether you driving forward or backing up!!

They do work good, if properly adjusted and drivers can keep from bending them in the brush!!

Clearance would be a problem for me. The buses, especially the newer birds, just barely clear the wash bay door in our shop now.

I remember the station wagons, some even had them on the sides. Smashed one like this at the county fair one year. I should have kept that roof rack.
