Teen Punches Kansas City Teacher on School Bus

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A Kansas City teenager allegedly punched a teacher in the face Tuesday night on a school bus.
The incident happened just before 10 p.m. at East 17th Street and Forest Avenue outside Manual Career Technical Center.
Police arrived to find the Central High School teacher sitting on the bus with a large welt on his forehead over his right eye, according to the police report.
The 27-year-old victim also had blood seeping from his nose.
He told officers he did not know what happened, according to the report.
Students on the school bus told police a 15-year-old boy knocked the teacher unconscious.
A female student on the bus having an asthma attack was punched in the chest.
The teacher and student were treated at hospitals for their injuries.
Police caught up with the suspect a few blocks away.
He was arrested and released to his mother.

Family of School Bus Attack Victim Thankful for Girl's Recovery

KANSAS CITY, MO - A Kansas City teen is home from the hospital just in time for Thanksgiving after she and her school band leader were attacked on a school bus following a high school band outing.
The girl's family says that the 15-year-old student is recovering well after the scary incident, but they say that what happened to their daughter should serve as a reminder to families about the importance of sticking together.
"It was frightening, it was frightening," said Telecia Gooden, the victim's cousin.
On Tuesday night, the girl, who the family asked not be identified, performed with the Central High School Band at the girl's basketball game at Manual Career Tech. After the band boarded the bus to head home, some unknown teens started yelling at the band members, then jumped on the bus and attacked the band leader, knocking him unconscious.
The 15-year-old girl, who also suffers from asthma, then took a punch to the chest. She was then rushed to Children's Mercy Hospital suffering from a severe asthma attack.
The girl's family says that the most troubling aspect to the incident is that the suspect police arrested in the case is just 15 years old. ...
