Had 8 of them distort the switch when the state inspector turned them. There needs to be a big arrow installed so as you are looking up at it, facing the rear of the bus, turn the lever to the LEFT. Although the newest ones cannot be turned the wrong way because of the design. SMC 8639 is the part # for the micro-switch if you need to replace it.

If you look the latch handle is crooked. It lays back and wont contact the micro switch. These new hatches are flimsy and have nothing to support the latch thru bolt. Looks like the bought an old fisher price toy maker to mold these. Remember the bowling pins?

Specialty Roof Hatch Model 8945B-1204

See that the cam doesn't hit the Micro switch

THAT'S A GREAT OBSERVATION!
Happen to be on a Thomas C2 or IC-CE?

Because I swear the same fisher price device is what made all the other flimsy plastic parts!

IC CE. But would be the same hatch for for C2 if you have a specialty hatch #8945B-1204

Specialty is terrible. What is even worse is the new area representative.

It's too bad Specialty bought out Transpec, I'm sure those products will turn into garbage as well. I'm ordering Transpec roof hatches in everything as long as they are still available for purchase.

Is there another option that I'm forgetting or are we just doomed.

--but hey you have to admit that these cheap plastic things do compliment the new buses' other cheap plastic things--
