Eighth grader charged with assault following school bus 'altercation'

The Onslow County Sheriff's Department has charged an eighth-grade student with assault in connection to an "altercation" on a school bus Friday afternoon that sent another eighth-grader to the emergency room.
A Trexler Middle School student suffered a cut near his eye and other head injuries and was transported by ambulance to Onslow Memorial Hospital, according to school and law-enforcement officials.
Parents of students on the bus that day have raised questions about the school-board policy concerning injuries on school buses and the notification process. ...
