Forgive all the probing questions, but in terms of immediate bus safety and long-term product manufacturing and / or design improvements, I have to ask!
What kind of binding steering issues are you having? Does the bus have power assist? Does the binding happen when driving? Does the binding happen when turning right or left? Where does the binding feel like it's orignating from? Do you feel the binding or resistance more in the steering wheel, column, or linkage?

For what it's worth, I seem to recall AAFE's having a steering problem here in Ohio a few years back...don't have time to search for it now, perhaps someone else remembers or can point us there?

Are the steering column u-joints in phase?

If it doesn't fit, FORCE it.
If it breaks, well, it needed replacing anyway.

Art, A thorough inspection must be performed by a qualified individual. I recommend not driving the bus until the issue is resolved and repaired. This is a safety issue. What kind of routine maintenance does the unit receive and by whom? Is it receiving regular lube jobs?

There was a steering problem here in Ohio with Bluebird engine front models. Eventually the problem was tracked down to a sticking vane in the power steering pump. Cardinal Bus out of Lima was excellent at taking care of the problem and I really appreciated how fast they had Bluebird and the pump vendor making a thorough investigation. All together quite a few pumps were changed in Ohio.
You may want to get your dealer involved and get some pressure testing done to be sure the parts are working as designed.
Ours was definitely a safety issue- the bus could not steer at all when this happened. You could easily be experiencing a similar problem.
Get this done ASAP!

Regards-
Craig
