Does anyone know whether or not IC offers the 530 engine on the FE chassis? I know that they never used to, but how about now? I've heard that they only use it in their RE units... If the 530 is not available, standardly, on the FE could one specially spec. it for extra $$$?

They can barely fit the MaxxForce DT in some of the FE configurations, so they certainly don't offer anything larger in the FE.

Currently, the MaxxForce DT is the new standard engine for the RE, they finally ditched their trash V8 engine offering. I'm not sure if there is an engine larger than the MaxxForce DT, I cannot find anything else listed.

OK, thanks Rich, I thought it might be the space constraints. I heard somewhere that the reason that the 530 engine was only offered in the RE because the RE needs something more heavy-duty to power it because of it being heavier... That sounded like non-sense to me. FEs and REs generally have the same GVWR, just different weight distribution. And as well, I believe that the IC RE is the lightest RE bus unit being sold in comparison to Thomas and BlueBird. So that really baffled me. But thanks for clarifying that.

What is this "Hydraulic Brakes" nonsense you speak of?

I thought it was a 570 inch motor? Will the new 390 be garbage like the 365?

Anyway, I drive a 2000 AmTran RE with a 444 with 102K on the meter. The other day, I got caught at a light with a very late model HDX from another school district...I had 56 elementary kids aboard. When the light changed, I pushed it to the floor (like I always do).....

Anyway, either that HDX didn't wanna race (I highly doubt that), or I WHOOPED his arse! When I got 'er up to the speed limit (45)...he was WAYYYYY back thar!

When they ain't broke down....there ain't no more comfortable and better runnin' bus than a AmTran RE!!!!

It seems to me, the MaxxForce DT has replaced the majority of the DT line (DT466, DT570). The next step up is the MaxxForce 9 which I belive has replaced the HT570, neither of which were offered in school buses to my knowledge.

MaxxForce 9 is the 2007-compliant DT570. MaxxForce 10 replaces the HT570.

I'd always thought that the DT570/MaxxForce 9 was available in the larger capacity FEs (about 90 pax?)

IC the future, and it is bright.

I always thought that at least the 530 would be available for the larger FEs... 84-90 pax.
