Greetings,
I posted an update with photos from last week's NYAPT Trade Show, and an assortment of submissions that I've recieved recently. For those who sent other submissions that aren't on the update, they will be posted on the next update. There are a total of 24 buses, some of which are quite unique!
To view the update, go to:

Very unique update! Nice work Richard and submitters! I admit, that Girardin G5 does look better with the black around the lights. |

Great Job, Rich. My favoright is the 2007 Vision used by NY Bus Sales. Does anyone know how many of these they have? Also, notice this Vision has the driver's side FM antenna unlike most with the rubber one on the roof. All of our BBs (and ics) have that attenna (well they did anyway, before they broke ) |

One of the reasons the new EC-72 wasn't there was probably because it won't meet some of NY's requirements, more specifically the side emergency door requirement.
Maybe they will have one at STN.

Great update, Richard.
I wish I could've gone this year. I liked that new IC RE, and the Vision with the black headlight bezels and grille also looked nice. |

Would anyone from Maine be able to share with us why bus 0721 came with an emergency door SO close to the driver? I'm very impressed with the looks of these two buses, but that emergency door struck me as very odd! Also notice the loading light on the front bumper...that's a neat little feature!

The submitter probably thought EVERY bus in North Carolina must be a Thomas. That one though is a Blue Bird.
I also noticed on the '07 Thomas C2 from Maine that it has the fixed side rear window. I thought I read on here a year ago that that was no longer available. That's the second '07 I've seen with those rear windows. And what's up with those real thin split sash side windows I've seen lately on C2s including that Maine C2 and this one(http://www.schoolbuscentral.com/gallery/updates/jul06/8_07c2_ny.htm?

my 07 IC FE has 2 of those windows, one on each side. they're emergency evac windows, lift the red handle, window swings out from the bottom. |

I recently learned that the rearmost small passenger windows (like the old buses of the 60s and 70s) come on buses that are equipped with the extended kneeroom option. The extended kneeroom option adds one inch of kneeroom per seat, and that difference is made up by putting the tiny windows in the back.
As far as that really think split-sash window, who knows. LOL I guess they just put those in so they don't have to use a different rear panel for every bus. |

I though mine didn't make the cut, lol.
Great update, interesting buses on this one. That C2 looks strange with the left side emergency door so close to the front. |

I'm sorry, I have to dis-agree. That was the WORST update I have ever seen, I have never seen such terrible pictures! They all look terrible. NO, I'M JUST JOKING! (HAHAHA)
That really was an excellent update. The C2 pictures are very clear and are great! You really put out time for this web-site. Excellent work! |

Hey I finally figured out why that C2 has the emergency door so far forward....
That's a lift bus, with the lift close to the front on the right side. Emergency exit requirements for lift buses include a requirement for a wide aisle leading to an emergency door. Because of the aisle width, if this bus had no side emergency door, it would be limiited to 2-2 seating in any row rearward of the lift and tie-downs. By placing the emergency door near the front (and therefore near the wheelchairs), they satisfy the exit passage requirement while still allowing for 3-3 seating rear of the lift.
Of course they could have just spec'd the bus with a rear lift (and moved the fuel tank up front), but this school probably has some requirement that the special needs students be close to the driver's seat. |

in all the lift buses i've seen over the yrs, all of them have extra wide aisles regardless of where the lift is. sometimes the lift is up front, i think, so the driver is closer to the front door/emergency brake. FCPS changed who goes outside to open the lift to the attendant, so the driver is inside to jump on the brake, put the bus in gear, etc, in case the brake fails. course, that only works when you have an attendant & they show up for work! 1084 has the lift in back. the last lift bus i had before that, the lift was up front, & when it was hot, there was no crosscirculation cos the 1st window on the r was behind the lift. that was a miserable bus to drive for many, many reasons! |

All of our lift buses now come with the lift all the way to the rear. I am not sure why but believe it is because all chairs now are in the rear with the forward mounted system I think most all our lift buses have that system now.Our oldest running lift buses will be 93 and 94 once the newer buses come in. |
