April 20, 2006 - News4Jax.com - JACKSONVILLE, FL -- A middle-school student with special medical needs was captured at gunpoint in Mandarin Thursday afternoon after kicking out windows of a school bus, turning on other students, then running through traffic.

"He's part of a program for children with special medical needs, which means he's seeing a doctor, seeing a nurse, and probably some other medical services," said Desiree Deleon, of Family Health Partners.{/i}
Could it be that the boy displayed escalating malbehavior previous to this event that required removal from the bus and additional intervention by school officials? It seems so easy to make excuses that result in injury to others and the out-of-control student by simply letting it be the bus driver's problem once the student is on the bus. (jk)
