Every diesel in the world is "govorned", the question really is why are your busses set up to allow only 55 MPH?
There are two possible reasons, poor spec'ing (too low a rear gear ratio), or it was programmed that way by request (or state law).
If it is a problem with gearing, there is nothing you can do short of replacing the rear gears with something more appropriate.
If it is an issue of programming, and there are NO LAWS in play, then the "road speed limit" can be changed. MANY states have enacted laws that limit the road speed of a school bus, and if your unit was ordered or delivered in one of those areas, it was programmed from the factory to comply with local laws. |

Hello there,
I see you are from New York. New York State law prohibits buses from going over the posted speed limits, up to 55 MPH. So, the operator who purchased these buses most likely told the dealership to electronically govern these buses at 55. It is easy to ungovern the buses, just have a mechanic go into the electronics and change it.
55 MPH buses are no fun! |

Give me the VIN number of the bus and I'll look up the IVEST parameters and tell you what it was programmed to at the factory.
