For thrust angle I put a kit together. Angle iron, carpenters square, couple clamps, plumb, and a few bolts. Angle iron clamped across the frame rails in the front (using the square for placement). I attached a couple bolts to the angle iron at the ends to hang the plumb and make a mark on the floor (be sure to hang the plumb over the bolts carefully so youre not creating 1/4" difference. In the back I screw a couple long bolts into the spiders and do the same. Using a long straight edge draw a line from each set of marks left to right. Measure the distance from each line front to back. Takes a little time and care to get it just right but its always worked for me.
measure from middle of axle (rear hub end) to the middle of front axle(hub end) thats all an alignment machine does except for toe, camber and caster As long as both sides measure the same the axles are true if not either add or remove rear shims, they come in different thicknesses also and for toe just use the old school collapse bar (not sure of name)
