My terminal's "yard man" was nice enough to take me on a tour and let me take all the pictures that I wanted. They have some unique school buses and coaches. Anyway, I thought I would post them and see if you "busnut" pros could figure out what they are. I thought it might be fun for you and I could learn along the way. Here's the first set. Also, please let me know if I should resize or post the pics differently..I don't know much about that either...Anyway here goes:
Any guesses?

That there is an early to mid 90's Blue Bird All American FE. Never seen one with that much chrome before, not bad! |

Beautiful bus, buslady!
But hey, why would such a late model bus have a 4 lamp system? All our '88 and up buses have the 8 lamp system...... |

The bus is probably from Wisconsin. Wisconsin is the lone state that requires 4-lamp warning lights. |

Up North, newer buses with the 4-ways aren't rare. They're found all over Canada, Michigan and I would guess throughout Wisconsin as well. Guess they just prefer the 4-ways over 8. I like the looks of 8-ways over 4-ways though. |

Wow! Awesome find! We used to have a bus similar to this one with all the chrome on it at our lot, but it headed to Montana very thirsty for oil along the way because nobody sent it through detox here in Oregon to stop that quart-a-week habit. I've been looking to identify one for years, and I guess I just did!

Definitely a '91 or '92 Blue Bird All American FE!! I'd probably choose if I had to choose one year, a '91. Probably an 84 passenger capacity. Manual door. Nice bumpers and wheels!! |

Yep, I'll agree with Richard. You really can't narrow it down any more than that because Wisconsin had 4 ways throughout those years (still do). And there wasn't much that changed on the All-Americans of that era. Now if I really had to guess the exact year, hmmm, let me look into my crystal ball. I'll guess 1992. That's my final answer.

Hey guys, I'm new to this forum, but I would like to add a few comments on this post. I live right across the river from Wisconsin (in Michigan). Actually, in Michigan, all busses built after the 1990 model year are required to have the 8-way flashers. In my district, they actually converted some of the busses from the early 90's from 4-way to 8-way. Just thought you'd like to know!! |

LOL, at first I thought you were referring to Lake Michigan as 'the river' and then I read your profile and saw that you live in Menominee. I don't remember all of my Michigan geography but I figure there must be a river between there and Wisconsin. Wecome to the Forums! I lived in northern Michigan (Traverse City) for 40 years before moving to SE Georgia. I'm with you...Go SPARTANS! And now the big question...are you a Packer fan or Lions? I'll always be a diehard Lions, Tigers, Pistons, Red Wings fan. |

Actually, from 1989-1991 they had "Blue Bird" in silver letters around black trim on the front. From 1991-1998 was the silver letters and yellow around it. |

The TC2000 had the black around BLUE BIRD but I dont think the All Amaricans did. I have a 91 All American on my site that doesnt have the black around the BLUE BIRD. |

Due to the current economic condition, the light at the end of the tunnel has been turned off until further notice. |

The black around the Blue Bird emblem was optional - I've seen pre-91s with and without it.
Now, back to topic. I'm going to narrow down my guess on that bus to 1991 to 1996. Hope I'm right. |

Our 89-91 TC2000's have the black around the BLUE BIRD, and our 1992 have just the lettering with no black behind them, other than that the buses are identical |

I would say it a 89 or 90, but I think I will go with 90. Due the fact that the doghouse color was change from tan to black in the mid 90's |

In the U.S., I believe that the decision on 8 light, 4 light, or other variations was left to each state. Virginia changed to an 8 light system for the 88 model year. Many changed to 8 light earlier than 1988, and I believe that some other states are still using 4 light systems. I also thought the chrome bumpers looked exceptionally nice. |
Wayne's Lifeguard in 1973 was a safety design and building concept ahead of its time and regulation. I am proud to have helped bring over 2,000 of them into Virginia during my career. I know they saved some lives. http://finance.groups.yahoo.com/group/WayneBusEnthusiasts/

Actuall, I think it's a 1989 or 1990 All American FE after doing some research. Look at the spacing of "B L U E B I R D" on the front. They did that after changing the front of the bus in the 1989 model. I think it's an '89. The window rail is missing in the back (like in a picture of a 1988 AA FE I saw). A 1989 All American FE is what I think this bus is!! |

But it's weird it has 2 panes of glass for the folding door. I've never seen that on an older bus. |

The door's center bar is actually painted black. There are four pieces of glass in that door, like most buses of that time. |

Here in Wis. we can have the 8 ways now BUT all eight have to be red until they pass the amber in about 7 - 8 years give us a lot of time to get rid of the older 4 ways. How come you guys "up nort" get all the chrome!! I have seen a lot of indian reservations have the chromed out ones too.
Nice! |

I thought most of the AAFEs DID have 2 panes of glass, with the center bar being attached to the inside of the door |

I could be wrong, but from pictures I've seen, it's actually four panes of glass. Perhaps they've made running changes to that door. 582, does that bus have four separate panes? |

I don't think it could be an '89. We have a few '89 AA FEs and they have those weird looking double "over-under" round headlights..... |

IC,
Our 89 AAFEs are the LAST of the old body style. Most 89s are of the style pictured above. |
