Hello! I am working on an 03 IC Re transit bus with a DT530 engine. The problem is the bus' compressor is not building air pressure to the tanks very fast. It is taking 25-30 minutes for the bus to build to cut out in 25-35 degree weather. Once it builds to cut out it is good for the day and will build air rapidly. It is just that first time in cold weather does it take a long time to build pressure. Anyone have any ideas?
Possible a leak at the compressor gasket. Once the compressor gets warm, the gasket seals and builds air at a normal rate. Spray the compressor with soapy water as it is building air first thing in the morning and see if you're getting any bubbles.
The compressor will build air up to around 42 psi and then it stops. It takes 15 to 25 minutes to build to cut out then. But, once it does this the compressor acts normal the rest of the time. It is just the first time when started does it have a problem. I have replaced the filter in the dryer and found no leaks at the compressor. Thanks for any responses.
