my 2008 mbe powered c2 that was the subject of my last post about the transmission troubles has another problem.
Sometimes the engine will not shut down when the key switch is turned to the off position. My first thoughts were "key switch". I replaced the key switch and the key and tumbler, still having the problem.
Sometimes the engine will not shut down, sometimes the engine will not start when the key is turned to "start", and sometimes the electrical power cannot be turned on or off with the key.
what do you think about this one?

I wasnt there to witness it, but down home there was an 08 doing that exact thing. There was a loose ground somewhere to the left of the driver seat. I wish I had more indepth info, but will get it if I am able. |

Thomasbus, thanks a bunch for the reply. That gives me a direction to start looking. If you are able, I would appreciate more specifics about the bus you are talking about, but again, thanks for the tip.
I should also mention that the windshield wipers will also turn themselves on from time to time on this bus, whether it is related or not, I do not know. |

The mystery-wiper issue is caused by one of several items: - Using only a High relay in the fender PDM - there is a retrofit for the low/delay using the spare. It's listed on accessfreightliner/servicepro/servicesolutions - Water cross-shorting the relays in the fender PDM(Contact cleaner & dielectric grease) - Corrosion on the turn-stalk switch connectors (Main & the one under the column boot, clean w/contact cleaner & dielectric grease) - Resistance build-up in the turn stalk siwtch . Put it on a shelf for a week or two & reuse when the next one acts up. |
I may not know the answer but I can usually find who does. |

Okay, I asked about it today...
Be sure to check the grounds over the driver window, but the problem in ours was a ground at or near the fuse block located in the console to the left of the driver.
Sure hope it's as simple a cause for you! |
