I've noticed lately that on quite a few IC CEs in my area that the right headlight seems to shine brighter than the left. I'm curious as to what might be causing this, and how to fix it if I get one of those buses once I become a driver. |

The headlights are doing exactly what they're supposed to be doing. All of my futura CE200s have one headlight that is brighter than the other. |

We had one that just sucked to drive at night because you couldn't see far in front of you. I had the mechanics aim the headlights higher and fixed the problem. It was so bad that I could leave my brights on and never got flashed the whole 48 mile trip back. |

I've also noticed a lot of CEs have the right one aimed higher, it looks like the right side high beam is on when it's coming at you but not the left. Is there any particular reason they're aimed this way, or just laziness at the factory? |

Headlights are frequently aimed so the drivers side one points lower and slightly away from the centerline of the road in comparison to the other light. Its a compromise to provide good road lighting while avoiding shining into the drivers eyes of oncoming traffic. |

Shane, my 2010's headlights vibrate as well. Then again, my Passat's do, too. |

Five CE 300s, no headlight issues so far. Headlight aiming has been checked and no adjustments made.
Might have been coffee break at the factory.
For what it's worth, I think these new headlight aimers really suck. My old Hoppy Aimer system works far more accurately then the nextgen system. |
If it doesn't fit, FORCE it. If it breaks, well, it needed replacing anyway. Pullin' wrenches for 45 years. |

Our BE buses have issues with the wiring harnesses hitting the rubber around the seal to make the airflow go through the radiator and aircharge cooler with the tilt hood closed. This is rubbing the wires to exposure of the copper. I am trimming the rubber off only a few inches now to avoid any more issues in the future.
I sure hope our accountants don't save us anymore money on the front end of more buses, it could bankrupt our entire operation before the life cycle. |

Almost all vehicles have the right head light aimed higher than the left. |

Was this a feature that started on the futura CEs? Not a single one of my 2002 AmTrans or 2004 CE200s have headlights that are aimed differently than the other. |

The headlight aiming for left and right side are identical. Both are set the same using an aiming device. In fact, the aiming device is used on one side then rolled to the other side so the same device does both sides. And the headlight aiming process requires a specific sign-off in order to pass Quality audits before the bus can be released.

As I said , Almost all vehicles including cars , buses , trucks, have the passenger headlight aimed slightly higher than the driver side. This has been for years.
Unless its a First Student bus , then the head lights are aimed at the sky. |

The 2010 CE300 I ride throws off heat like there's no tomorrow, much better than any of our TCs, AmTran FEs, or the 2004 CE200. I can feel the hot air blowing three seats in front of and across the aisle from the rear heater. Perhaps it was upgraded.... |
