LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- A pair of Jefferson County elementary school principals have been indefinitely suspended after more than 400 students were hours late getting home because of busing problems on the first day of school.
The Courier-Journal reports that Superintendent Sheldon Berman disciplined King Elementary principal Julia Lewis and Lincoln Elementary principal Sonya Unseld with pay while the district investigates problems that resulted in hundreds of students from their schools being improperly tagged to return home on buses.
About a dozen students from those schools didn't arrive home until after 9 p.m. Tuesday.
Chancey Elementary students also were delayed because of tagging problems. But, Berman says principal Ronda Cosby acted diligently to correct the problems and won't be disciplined.
