Installed one of these for the first time the other day. Driver came back today complaining that he couldn't hear it. Anyone have any thoughts on them? Doesn't sound near loud enough to me either. For anyone not familiar with the design (like me), the unit automatically adjusts decibel output based on the ambient/surrounding sound level. It does work because I blew a air air nozzle at it and the level increased.

I just replace them with a loud one which is cheaper. Yes the other one (automatic) is standard on a Bluebird now. In the shop they are quiet outside they are louder. Most of the time I find them full of dirt because the are mounted facing down. The automatic is supposed to be louder but I don't think it ever reaches peak DB.

Thanks for the info. I guess less noise pollution is the idea behind the adjustable.
