Has anyone had pin holes to develop in the oil pans of the T444E engine? We have one now with several pin holes. Also, has anyone had trouble with the nut that attaches the dipstick tube to the oil pan coming loose? Thanks
Be sure to hold the center still while tightening the nut. There is a prong on the pan with a keyway in the piece that if you round it off causes you problems. You're OK as long as the o-ring that is back behind the center piece doesn't drop and pinch. Over the years, we have made several attempts at repairing these problems without removing the pans (some successful) but now IH has a kit to do it. It is PN 1846146C91. We haven't tried their kit yet. Good Luck.
I wish I had a nickel for every opil pan we pulled to fix that dumb dipstick fitting. Seems that International was using the wrong o-ring and when it swelled up it popped out. You can't tighten it either cause it just turns inside the pan and leaks worse. The new o-rings don't appear to swell up.
