While looking around on archive.org, I found a few interesting school bus videos. Both were made by the same company in 1980. One is a basic safety video, while the other is about vandalism.
The first video has a nice, Thomas/International with a gas engine and standard transmission...it had to be brand new, as it was an S1700. (I thought of thomas86a when I saw this bus) http://www.archive.org/details/bus_nut
The second video has the same bus, as well as an older Thomas and an older Wayne. Pay attention and you will see that two different buses are used as "'Ole 23". http://www.archive.org/details/ole_23
Wow...I miss those old buses. That first IHC/Thomas is a 1979 (note the windows are the indestructible steel frames with 1/4" glass and the black release tabs) 1980 featured the new aluminum with 3/16" glass and white nylon latch actuators. Correct me if wrong guys, but didn't IHC switch to that hood in '79 or could it be a '78?
Either way...I love to see Thomas' without the plastic box over the door clevis and the rubber block between the handrail and stepwell that we had to add after the massive recall in the 90's. Nice memories.
