School bus evacuation drills, a drive-by parade, and special bus driver shout-outs marked NAPT’s National School Bus Safety Week.

The transportation team at Randolph County (N.C.) School System partnered with a local fire department to conduct school bus extrication practice, using buses that were no longer in use and are scheduled to be scrapped.

Troup County (Ga.) School System honored one of its special-needs drivers, Jameel Dixon (shown in blue), for his dedication to students on and off the school bus. When Dixon is not driving, he works as a local scout leader with Boy Scouts of America and leads camps at local churches.

Lansing, Mich.-based Dean Transportation supplied a total of 5,000 reflective wristbands to 11 school districts to help make students more visible at bus stops.
