I have a 94 BB TC/2000 with a Cummins 8.3 and Allison MT643. It has been starting to have issues with the speedo wanting to occasionally cut out and/or bounce back and forth between two speeds. The best I can tell the odometer still functions properly but the issue never lasts longer than a second or two to really tell. I am leaning more towards a gauge issue but BB no longer makes the instrument cluster. So I am looking for any other suggestions and/or tips to verify the issue. Also, the speeds at which it occurs are random.

UPDATE: I went on another road test and this time I just went around at slower speeds. It is not registering any speed until I reach around 25-30 mph. The odometer is also not working at that time. When I would come to a stop, it would drop back to 0 and not read again until the 25-30 range.

I'm not well Versed in the older stuff but to me it sounds like the speedometer pickup in the trans is bad. I believe it is in the tail shaft, big plastic doohicky with 2 wires.

It depends on if its cable or electronic driven speedo.

Not sure on the '94 BB's but we have some '99's that are on an International chassis. They use an International cluster #3525074C94. As far as I know they're still available. They're pricey at a bit over $1000 plus core. I have two on hand I'd love to get rid of.

bfaulkner: it is electronic and does have a 2 wire sensor in the tail shaft housing. I might just see about ordering one if they are still available.

BigPapa: i'm not sure if that will work. Can you post a pic of it?
