In our State we must have 4 hours of in service each year. We do the same thing every year go over student pick up, bus evacuation drills, bus rules, and inspection, railroad crossings, you know the drill. What are you doing to make these things more interesting and fun.

We try to make our inservices more hands on. Rather than just sitting and talking about the same old things, we try to make it to where people are up and moving around. We often do things like evacuation drills where other drivers play the role of the student, we sometimes put a bus on the lift and have drivers walk around the bus looking at the undercarriage to help them get a better perspective on things. We also will use a fog machine to smoke up a bus so the drivers can get an idea of what it would be like if there were a fire on the bus. Hope this helps.
