I have been in contact through email with someone at Blue Bird who organizes their merchandise department, I have asked this question in the past and it didn't go very far, but I asked again and she is going to contact someone of higher authority and she is very interested in the idea of producing Diecast metal versions of the Vision and the All American in addition to the plastic bus banks. I have recommended some diecast manufacturers and she is going to look into it for pricing of the models. I want to gather some information on how many of you would be interested in purchasing diecast metal models of Blue Bird buses, much like the Thomas and IC models out now, except these would be a little more detailed and in either 1/54 or 1/64 scale.

Would anyone be on board for this? Just interest, no money donations or anything, just looking for interested people/collectors.

Cool, thanks! Spread the word guys, there is a strong chance for this, Blue Bird seems to like the idea.

would like die cast model as long as it doesn't cost an arm and a leg getting it mailed across the boarder.

Have you heard anything else from Blue Bird about this idea?

Tell the person that organizes the merchandise, that I have all their clothes, and need some new selection. Some different hats would be good too.

I'm going to send an email letting her know there is still interest, this little of interest isn't going to make it happen though.

Haha bluebirdvision, I would like to see some different/better hats too. I'll let them know.

It's not that there isn't interest, but there is a lot of doubt that this is going to happen. I know anything is possible, but people have been trying to get them to make diecast models for years. If there is more solid proof that they are really looking into the possibility of producing these, that may get people more interested.

Top two factors on my end: price, and it would have to have realistic detail. The current BB Banks I think have inaccurate proportions and were kinda thrown together, unlike the previous models. I'd be more willing to pay more for something better than have something cheaper and look like something you could find in a dollar store.

Jake hit the nail right on the head in that post. Anyhow, here is the email response I got back.

Thank you for the email.  We found as supplier to do these however the initial investment is over $50,000.  We are still sourcing another option however have not forgotten about this as it is a stellar idea!

As for new ideas…YES!  They will be out soon.  We are waiting for headquarters to approve the options and new ideas will be coming your way!

Thanks again and keep the comments coming.

Have a great day.

Good idea, but the price would be outrageous. I don't know who they are contacting, they are wanting to be more detailed than Thomas and IC's models though, it will be their current All American and Vision buses.

Well, I got an email from the Blue Bird contact. They've been looking around at different manufacturers and the price for new tooling is too high at the moment, but they still love the idea. Their HQ won't let them do it at the moment. There is some new merchandise coming though, new clothes and stuff.

count me in! a tc2000 or mini bird would also be cool, i wonder if it will be more profitable to produce them in 1 87 scale so they can go on model RR layouts as well! recently a chinese manufacturer Shing Fat has been producing crowns and saf t liners in near 1/87 scale and i have seen them sell like crazy

If it was in 1/87 scale I wouldn't buy it, only because I would like it to match the size of the Thomas Built Buses, and IC Bus Models. If they come out with 1/54 or 1/55 scale I would purchase way more then one.

My diecast models are about 51 and counting.
