I have a 304ci head that has been rebuilt was wondering if it'll fit on a 345ci like a 305 could fit on 350 let me know if it'll bolt right on to it just asking in case I cracked a head or blow a headgasket might as well change both heads since the valves on the 304 is brand new

I believe they will bolt on, however, the cooling passages may be different in alignment. Unlike the small block Chevrolet which arguably has seen more development than any engine in history, the 304/345 engines have been out of production for over 20 years, and they were low volume engines, by comparison. Tread very carefully and compare the 345 head gasket to the 304 cylinder head before trying it.

I believe those heads are the same. The 392 used larger diameter valves if I'm not mistaken.

I may be wrong. It's been a long time since I've worked on those engines.

Check with an IH dealer. They should have the answer.

If it doesn't fit, FORCE it.
If it breaks, well, it needed replacing anyway.

I know there are some notable differences between the V304 and V345/V392s.

We ran one V304 and about a dozen V345 or V392s, the V345 and V392 have the most parts commonality of the three. The intakes are not interchangable and the V392s all have 4bbl carbs while only some V345s did.

I do not *think* the V345 head is the *same* as the V304 head, but it's been over 10 years since I last tore one apart so please don't take that as "gosple".
