If I remember the plug has three wires going to it. One is ground, one is hot with key on and one is switched on during cranking. The one that is switched is the "pull" wire.

Mechanical engine with the Bosch 7100 series pump? (inline pump confuguration). Three wires one is a ground, one operates the low amperage "hold" coil, the other is for the high amp "pull" coil. If it's in a Blue Bird, it will use a "pull coil timer", if it's in a Thomas or freightliner it will operate with a relay, or series of relays that involve the ignition, crank, and oil pressure circuits. The low amp coil is ignition fed, the high amp coil will only operate when the key is in the crank position and only when the oil pressure switch opens.

Live each like it's going to be your last, one day you'll be right!
