Ok, this is kinda touching on what I said in the "new bus shedules" topic, but bear with me.

2026 is my assigned bus for both morning and afternoon runs. But for some reason, 0406 has been coming down to pick us up in the mornings. Then this afternoon, I rode 2026 home and got off at my stop. About a minute after the bus leaves, 0406 comes and drops off more kids at the same stop 2026 had just left. I told my afternoon driver about this, but I have yet to find out what happens. What are your opinions on this "Double stop"?

The best bet would be to get ahold of the T/D somehow and let him know.

Oh gosh, Gotta ask you something. Are you sure they aren't using Versta Trans? I can't stop laughing right now!! When I drove my route same exact thing happened.

We have had to do double stops before because stops are so big that we can't fit them all on one bus that serves the same school. I personally do not like doing but sometimes we can't help it. Also there are times that we accidently assign a student to the wrong bus and for some reason we are never told about the mistake and we have two buses stopping at the same stop which makes us look like fools.

At my stop there are only about 5-6 kids, including me. So I guess you could say that we're not exactly the biggest stop on the route.

I'm guessing there is a mistake somewhere with how the routes were written -- either by computer or by human.

I doubt it. I looked up the route for 0406, and my stop isn't included. Then I looked it up for 2026, and it was there. I think it's the fault of the driver in the mornings. Not to be rude though, he's a really nice person.

We have had double stops before, sometimes two subs respond to a call and they don't realize and with 23-27 buses serving one school thye get mixed in the line-up. I remember when we Had 78 pax buses on route and spares were 64 pax so sometimes we would have to squeeze on 2 buses if we had a spare... that was before the major driver shortage, now sometimes we have 2 full runs squeeze on 1 78 pax bus which is really 50 pax because HS is 2 per seat not 3. But your situation is strange, must be a glich

For efficiency, there should only be one bus stopping at each stop. That is, unless there is such a crowd of people getting off at that stop that they cannot all fit on one bus. When the sports teams need to go downtown to practice, they have the choice of riding either my bus or one other bus. There's about 30-40 kids who head down to practice, so if each bus takes 15-20 ontop of our normal load of students, it works. But to have two buses servicing a stop with 5-6 kids is very inefficient.

If all your problems are behind you... you must be a school bus driver.

Yes, that is strange...the only rationale I can think of would be an overload situation, which you say it isn't.

I also have a strange situation on my high school run. It's not a double stop, rather another driver has stops interspersed with mine on the same road. He passes by "my" kids and I pass by "his" kids...except for the first day of school last year...I figured the route sheet was wrong and picked up his kids by mistake. No overload in this situation, either. I was going to ask the boss about it but never got around to it.

Do both of you drive down this road at different times?

The reason I ask is because part of my elementary route is on a main road. I stop at all the even numbered houses on one side of the street and another driver stops at all the odd numbered houses on the other side of the street. This set-up has nothing to do with students who cross or don't cross, rather that our buses are stopping on that road at different times so the traffic doesn't stay backed up for very long. If one bus was making all the stops on this one street, traffic would be backed up for quite some time and the line would be very long.

I wouldn't bother with it. Not too many have the luxury of deciding which bus they take. Now if you wanted to go "by the book" then don't board the wrong bus and wait for your correct morning bus to come by. Chances are the correct bus is just minutes behind you.

I think the problem has been fixed. As I said before, I told my afternoon driver about this and she said that she would talk to someone. Then this morning, our driver said that today was the last time he was going to be picking us up.

Oh well, it's been fun riding on bus 0406 though. But the problem needed to be fixed.
