COACHELLA, Calif. — A boy who fell out of a school bus here on Monday suffered scrapes to his face and head, KESQ reports.

California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers said that as the bus driver navigated a curve and the bus veered left, the boy opened the handle for the emergency door and was thrown from the vehicle.

The boy was flown to a medical center by a CHP helicopter for treatment.
