Modest increases in Type C and D school bus sales in North America over the past year were overshadowed by a large drop in Type A/B sales, resulting in an overall drop of 4 percent.
There were 38,873 school buses sold in the U.S. and Canada in the 2008 sales year (Nov. 1, 2007, to Oct. 31, 2008), compared to a total of 40,513 in the previous year.
Type C and D sales were up 1.8 percent and 5.3 percent, respectively, but Type A/B sales fell 28.9 percent.
A full report on the North American school bus sales appears in the forthcoming SCHOOL BUS FLEET 2009 Fact Book.
