KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Transporting Students With Disabilities & Preschoolers event next year will carry the theme “Show Me!”, which fits its Missouri location and its focus on training.

In a contest to come up with a theme for the conference, entries by four people influenced the selection.

With her entry that emphasized the practical and hands-on training that is characteristic of the conference, the winner of free registration for the 2011 event is Charlene Majors, training specialist at Gwinnett County (Ga.) Schools.

In addition to “Show Me!”, the theme includes the wording “Special-Needs Transportation — Practical / Team Driven / Hands-On Training.”

Runners-up in the selection of “Show Me!” were:

• Kim Thomas, director of transportation, Rocklin (Calif.) Unified School District
• Karen Ausberry, transportation area manager, Orange County (Fla.) Public Schools
• Wendy Armstrong, supervisor of Kendall Demonstration Elementary School services, Gallaudet University, Washington, D.C.

The conference and exhibition will be held at the Hyatt Regency Crown Center in downtown Kansas City, March 11-16, 2011.
